Operation Inasmuch
Each third Saturday in October we share the
love of Jesus through hands-on
ministry and community impact
mission projects. Dozens of projects
have been accomplished through the years.
Check out the pictures of our
community in action.

Teams This Year
Car
Care Projects:
Free oil changing service and small repair/service projects for single moms, spouses of deployed military, senior adults in need and day school employees and parents in need.
(Dave Brosius and John Peake)
Apartment
Ministry:
An outreach day of fun for kids and
families living in a nearly
apartment complex, currently looking
into the possibility at Malibu
Apartments. This is not another youth
block party project, we need adults
committed to family outreach. (Lynda
Pierce and Ellie Zecchini)
Prayerwalking
Team: This team will target many neighborhoods in our community and walk through them praying for residents and neighbors. Great awakenings in the past always were preceded by prayer movements.
(Vicki Anderson)
Water
Distribution Team: This team will target a prime location where team members will literally give a cup of cold water in Jesus' name.
(Kim Jessie)
College
Coeds: This team will organize care packages to be sent to our away at college students, just to say we are thinking of them and love them.
(Jodi Hudgins, Georgia Killough and
Sarah Jarvis)
Food
Drive:
Beginning on September 18, the congregation is encouraged to donate food items to our emergency food closet; visit the "donation tree" in the foyer for needed items. A list of items is also available in the church office. Return items to your Sunday School Class. Surplus donations will be sent to other organizations like the Southeastern Virginia Food Bank.
(Terry & Corky Haisten and Diane
Horte)
Bakers
Team: Those who love to bake can prepare cookies and brownies to be mailed to college students, deployed military personnel, and delivered on October 15 to local police and fire stations in our community. Many people can bake ahead of time, bring the items on that Saturday, and then serve on another team during OIAM.
(see respective teams, College,
Military and Responders)
Baby
Shower:
Four or five soon to be moms will receive a full blown baby shower. Team members will organize and host the party, and secure donated or purchased gifts for the shower. (Linda Shull)
Preteen
Team: This is a team of preteens, grades 5-6, who will serve others together, under the supervision of our Preteen Ministry leadership.
(Paul Garrison)
First
Responders: This
team will pack and deliver baked goods to local police and fire stations in our community. See the Bakers Team for additional opportunities to serve with this team.
(Linda Roberts)
Nursing
Home Ministry:
This team will visit a local
facility and host BINGO for the
residents. It's a great way to share
God's love by spend time with those
who need some attention. We are also
requesting donations for BINGO
prizes, so check the bulletin board
for BINGO cards with needed
items (like small or large packs of
Kleenex, lotions, dish soap, hand
towels, even toilet paper). (Janelle
LaBouve and LaVeryl Brown)
Children's
Ministry (Adults): Children are servants, too, and this team will minister and service in Jesus' name. Grades 1-4 will help the First Responders Team in filling the goodie bags; and also assist with the Food Drive Team. This team is finished at 3:00, so parents need to finish their OIAM projects accordingly. This sign up here is for adults who want to help supervise the children.

Military
Letters:
This team will write letters to deployed military personnel, to offer God's love and encouragement to our heroes serving away from home and family. Letters can be written ahead of time and brought to the church that Saturday, and then you may serve on another team during the event. An extremely important component of this team is getting names and addresses of deployed members whom we can serve.
Can your
group come up with 5 deployed
service people we can touch? (Peggy
Parker)
Home
Repair
Projects: Builders and those handy with tools can make a difference by helping with small jobs around the home for needy people in our community. You don't need to be a carpenter, but help and support those who are skilled at leading repair projects. An urgent request is for local projects. Send your suggestions by October 2, by dropping a note in the OIAM projects box in the foyer.
(Ray Kirby)
Yard
Work Projects:
Check out this team if you love
working in the yard and getting your
hands dirty. It's often more that
cutting grass or raking leaves,
maybe tree trimming or brush
removal. (Dan Rush)
King's
Stitchers:
Experienced crocheters can come to
the church and make items needed for
several mission projects in which
the church is involved (Sandy
Guthrie)
Preschool
Nursery Care: This team will provide free childcare for preschoolers while parents volunteer in Operation Inasmuch.
(Connie Cannon)
Lunch
Delivery: For those who serve during OIAM, lunch is provided. This lunch team will be delivering lunches to those volunteering in
OIAM. (Darrell Foster)
