The Men of Steel are on a mission...

  What Is It?

The nickel defense is a basic defensive formation in football that is designed to stop the pass. The alignment features four down lineman, two linebackers, and five defensive backs. In our context, we want to stop the passes of the enemy. We want our adversary to gain no ground on our watch!

  Who Is Responsible?

The Men of Steel are promoting a prayer strategy that is designed to support and undergird our pastor. *

  What Is Your Scriptural Foundation?

Ephesians 6:10-18 - "Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God's armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God's righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere."

What Are You Asking Me To Do?

The men of KGBC are lifting up pastor Skip in prayer each week. Keep a nickel in your pocket to remind you to pray for our pastor five times each week. On Sunday, bring the nickel to church and give it to Skip before the service. Our pastor needs to be preaching with a pocket full of nickels, which represents the power of the Holy Spirit moving through all of the prayers lifted up on his behalf.

How Should I Pray for Our Pastor?

The church needs to rally behind our pastor... and pray for him with more passion and intentionality than ever before.  Here are several areas where you can be praying for pastor Skip...

#1 - His Walk With God - Pray that his relationship with Jesus isn't one out of obligation... but of OBSESSION.  It is VERY tempting for a pastor to read the Bible for sermon prep and NOT to know Jesus.  Pray that His relationship with Jesus will be FRESH and that he will be filled with vision and passion like never before.

#2 - His Integrity - It takes YEARS to establish integrity... and it can be destroyed in seconds.  Pray for Skip to keep his eyes on Jesus and OFF of anything that might lead him astray.

#3 - His Marriage - Pray that our pastor just doesn't preach about a healthy marriage... but LIVES it out.  The enemy comes STRONG after his marriage and his kids.  Lift up his wife and children by name.

#4 - His Sanity - He deals with critics, he deals with unrealistic expectations, he deals with accusations, he deals with pressure that is intense.  Pray that he will keep his sanity.  I recently heard of a survey that said only 10% of the men entering the ministry actually retire... the others either get disqualified OR drop out!  That is a 90% failure rate.  THE STAKES ARE HIGH.

#5 - His Health - Good health is vital for ministry... and physical, emotional and spiritual health do not just "happen!"  Do not assume Skip's health and strength... lift him up.

Cover Skip in prayer each week... and pray that Jesus will speak to him and through him in ways that he has never experienced.
