The Men's Ministry of
King's Grant exists to help men experience
gospel transformation in the context of an authentic
community. As the gospel penetrates men's lives it will move
them out in servant leadership in their families, the church
and to those in need.
Men of Steel @ King's
Grant
The Men
of Steel recently showed the COURAGEOUS movie at
King's Grant, with about 230 people in attendance. I hope
the men heard the intentional challenge at the end and we
want to provide some practical "Next Steps" for a dad
ready to make a change. A two-hour film does not bring
change, only hopes and good intentions. Getting involved
with other men in a small group context will help you put
new principles into practice.
Honor really does begin at home. We hope you will leave
inspired and challenged to live honorably and leave a
lasting impact on the next generation. Maybe you connected
with one of the characters in the movie because of your
relationship with your dad or your own role as a parent and
now you are wondering what to do next to strengthen your own
family.
At King's Grant Baptist Church, we believe in the power
of God to change men and families. We want to be a resource
for moms and dads and a place where families are
strengthened. Here are some potential courageous next steps.
- Begin praying for (and with) your children.
- Write a letter to your own father. It may be a letter
saying thanks for being a great dad or a letter offering
overdue forgiveness for the ways he may have hurt you.
If your father is not a believer, use the letter as a
means to share Christ.
- Sign up for a COURAGEOUS Living small group. Our
groups will begin in February; here are the dates and
locations:
- Tuesdays at 7:30am at Denny's,
Feb. 7, 14, 21, 28, with Skip Wallace

experiences each week at 8:30 or 11:00 in order to grow
in your faith, find faith or learn how to become a
courageous dad. Regular Bible study happens at 9:45 each
Sunday morning; there is a class for every member of the
family.

Men today want to be Superman for their spouse, their kids and appear to have it all together. But even Superman had his
vulnerability; kryptonite! This is a call to men, to become a Man of Steel, living out Proverbs
27:17, "as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens
another." So, we created Men of Steel...

Men's ministry is so much more than just providing activities for men, like men are looking for something else to add to their schedules! Consider this information:

Add to this list...
that eight do not find their jobs satisfying, six pay only the monthly minimum on credit cards, and the four who get divorced will affect 1 million children each year. Indeed, men are in a battle for their souls; and many don't even realize it. Do we believe that we are immune to these problems?
What about discipleship? The biblical model is not outdated:
You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach
others. Paul writing to Timothy, in 2 Timothy 2:1-2.
So, how does a disciple wannabe find a "Paul" who is willing to invest his life into another person? How can a mature believer find a
"Timothy" who desires to learn and grow into an authentic follower of Christ?
Think of what a ministry to men can do for our community, for marriages, families and businesses...
ponder, plan and pray with me about how God will work in the life of our congregation, and that a ministry specifically involving men can come to fruition. Share your ideas!
Men's Ministry is the active pursuit of men in order to
connect them to God, His Word, and other men for the purpose
of winning, growing, and training God's men in Christ.
Can a men's ministry enable a man to better understand his
calling in life and how to achieve it? Can a men's ministry
challenge a man to grow deeper in intellect, emotion, and
spirit? Can a men's ministry teach men how to stay sexually
pure? The answer to this question is a resounding yes!
Every man involved in ministry in King's Grant Baptist
Church is a part of the Men's Ministry, whether or not they
ever come to a prayer breakfast!
Essential Elements of Men's
Ministry
Here are eight biblically-balanced benchmarks for a
healthy ministry to men.
FILLING - God's man is able to feed himself.
Consistently studying and applying God's Word independent of
the church or small group is essential. To do this, a man
must be taught how to study the Bible. (1
Peter 2:1-3; Psalm
1:1-3).
TRAINING - God's man receives regular biblical
instruction (1
Thessalonians 2:13). This can be achieved through a
weekly small-group Bible study.
PRACTICING - God's man learns how to apply God's
Word to all areas of life. It is essential to allowing room
for accountability within the men's ministry for the purpose
of consistency and obedience to God's Word (James
1:22-25; Ezekiel
33:30-32).
UNITING - God's man makes it a priority to connect
with other men (at least two times a month) for the purpose
of community, accountability, confession, and prayer (Galatians
6:1-3; James
5:16; Hebrews 10:23-24).
SURVIVING - God's man learns to address major life
temptations and/or crises according to his need and
life-stage. Support and encouragement from the small group
is essential (Ecclesiastes
4:9-12).
REACHING - God's man gets involved in some form of
men's ministry based on his gifts and talents. God has
called each of us to pour out to others what He has poured
into us (1
Peter 4:10-11; Ephesians
4:11-13)
IMPACTING - God's man invests time and resources
into the lives of other men; through shared activities,
spiritual mentoring, and modeling (2
Timothy 2:22; Proverbs
27:17; Mark
3:13-14).
SHARING - God's man learns to actively share his
faith in order to lead others into a personal relationship
with Jesus Christ (Acts
1:8; 1
Peter 3:15; Matthew
28:18-20).
